LCARS Sidebar is heavily based on code from margu-NotebookInfo2 Gadget which I used as a guide.

Margu also credits link8583, Asysoft and David Taraso as the source of code for NotebookInfo2 so thanks to them too.

I used large chunks of code directly from NotebookInfo2 though so huge thanks to Margu for doing most of the leg work.

A few pointers were also gained from Q's DriveInfo to be able to eject drives.

Graphics and colour scheme based on LCARS Standards Development and Adge's Star Trek LCARS Site.

And of course a big thanks to Michael Okuda for inventing LCARS and giving us geeks something to scare away any potentional girlfriends.

- Added the option to choose from two new slightly different themes.  Not much different but I saw someone had made a modified version of my gadget so figured some might prefer a choice.
- Re-implemented the fix for when aux power cannot obtain estimated time remaining so it shows percent instead of crashing.
- Enabled network drives again in memory banks, I have hopefully fixed this crashing out when the network drive suddenly becomes unavailable (eg WiFi drops).
- Confirmed gadget works on Windows 8 Developer Preview, now I wonder how hard it would be to create a Metro LCARS panel?

- Unlimited CPU cores can be monitored now, or aggregated together as a single combined speed and averaged load.
- Completely rewritten memory banks so it can show RAM and storage drives, free and total space.
- Reduced the size of the aux power text as it was still splitting onto a second line causing the last line of the gadget to be hidden.
- You can now enable/disable each category, display as little or as much as you want.  Only the date/time is mandatory now
- Made the offline text more interesting.
- Borrowed the commands from Q's DriveInfo to be able to eject removable media and optical drives.

- Fixed a sizing bug which chopped off the bottom of the gadget on single-core machines and made it too big on machines with more than two cores.
- Not sure why but some PCs are unable to determine the aux power time remaining so were showing 0 mins.  I have added a fix so that if that is the case it shows the percent remaining instead.

- First release, didn't get accepted until next day as I made a mistake when zipping the package.

Comms reports the wireless network you are connected to and signal strength. It will also report data transfer speed if you selected the right device in the settings page.
If you do not have WiFi (or you are not connected to a network) it will state Ethernet and report the data transfer speed of the section network card chosen in settings.
Clicking anywhere in the comms section will bring up the network connection list.

Computer core reports (what Windows thinks, and so on some computers is wrong) the current speed of each core on your CPU as well as the load on that core.
If you have a lot of cores you can also change it to display a single result showing the combined speed of all cores added together and the averaged total CPU load.
Clicking anywhere in computer core brings up task manager.

Main/Aux power are for laptop users as it shows if you are plugged into mains, charging or on battery power. It will also flash red when the battery is low.

Memory banks reports free/total system memory as well as the free/total size of storage devices such as HDD/SSDs, USB sticks, etc.
You should also be able to eject USB sticks and optical drives.

Uptime shows how long since you booted your computer.

Bugs / Known Issues
---------

COMMS can only monitor WiFi if you are using Windows to manage your WiFi connection.  If you are using custom software there is unfortunately no way to retrieve the necessary information.

3G/HSDPA is not possible for the same reason, it may work for monitoring the bandwidth (untested) but it cannot report the signal strength.

Updating your network drivers can break the gadget if it changes their description.  Removing it then adding it back with the new configuration fixes the problem.

Uptime does not report seconds because the gadget is getting so complex that it regularly takes more than a second to refresh.
